How to check the oil in your GMC Acadia
Before checking oil, make sure the engine is cool. GMC recommends that the engine be off for at least 2 hours prior to checking your oil to ensure a more accurate reading of your oil levels.
Have a paper towel or cloth ready, and pull out the dipstick. The dipstick is towards the center of the engine with a large loop indicating the top of the stick.
Wipe the dipstick cleans, and dip it back in all the way. Pull out the dipstick again and check towards the tip of the stick where the oil line is. There will be crosshatch marks on a part of the dipstick. If the oil level is underneath that level towards the tip, it’s time to add oil! If the oil you pull out has particles and is losing its transparency, that is a sign to schedule your oil change.

Serpentine Belt Information
A serpentine belt is a belt that is attached through a series of pulleys connected to essential parts of the engine and gives them power. These parts include the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning and more. The serpentine belt is made of extremely heavy-duty reinforced rubber that can take on a large amount of work and withstand high temperatures. It has grooves on one side that attach to the different pulleys and is constantly rotating as you drive.
The serpentine belt should last around 50k-100k miles depending on the rubber materials in its composition. Overtime, the serpentine belt wears and gets older. It’s important to be on the lookout for any signs of serpentine belt deterioration. Be sure to visually inspect your serpentine belt on a regular basis, such as every time you get your oil changed. Check the belt for any cracks, tears or separation along either side of the belt. Our team of mechanics here at Speck Buick GMC are happy to inspect your serpentine belt to keep it in good, working condition.
